Pennfield High School announced Monday that Marty Martin will assume the dual responsibilities of athletic director and head varsity football coach, marking a new chapter for the program.
A Fresh Coaching Landscape
Martin, who previously guided teams at Maple Valley and a handful of other districts, was a member of the school's coaching search committee and brings a deep familiarity to the role.
His playing history includes a memorable debut in the first-ever matchup between Maple Valley and Pennfield, a detail that resonates with longtime community members.
Joining Martin on the sidelines will be Jackson Murphy Cruze, the newly appointed head coach for the boys varsity basketball team, who arrives after stints at Olivet University and as a junior‑varsity mentor at Aquinas College.
Cruze, a former player at Olivet and recent head coach of the girls basketball program at Forest Hills Eastern, will take over from Robbie Hattan, who steered the team to back‑to‑back conference titles.
In a separate move, the school also named Maxie Naramor as the new competitive cheerleading coach, rounding out a coaching staff that the administration believes is poised to sustain recent successes.
