The 2026 Pensacola News Journal All-Area baseball awards have become a rallying point for the region’s top talent, honoring the athletes and mentors who defined a memorable season across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
At the center of the celebration is Colton Guillot of Pensacola Catholic, whose dual-threat ability earned him the Player of the Year distinction. Guillot batted .398, smacked 16 doubles, hit five home runs and drove in 23 runs while scoring 36 times, and his 52 strikeouts on the mound underscored his versatility.
A Historic Season for the Crusaders
Guillot’s impact extended beyond the box score. He posted a 3‑2 record with a 2.14 ERA over 36 innings, and his 35 career doubles set a new program record. The senior also tied Auburn star Chris Rembert’s career home run mark of 21, a milestone that capped a career that saw him reach base in every game but one.
His commitment to the University of Virginia adds a collegiate dimension to a narrative that already felt larger than the diamond.
Hitter of the Year
The offensive accolades were shared by Dax Brooks of Pace, who captured Hitter of the Year after a .375 average, a .469 on‑base percentage and a .596 slugging percentage. Brooks added 10 doubles, three homers and 31 RBIs, and he batted .487 with runners in scoring position, helping the Pirates to a 26‑6 record and a sixth straight district title.
His performance illustrated how a single season can reshape expectations for a program still chasing its first state championship.
Pitcher of the Year
Pitching honors went to Bryton McLellan of Tate, whose 9‑1 record, 1.01 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 69 1/3 innings earned him Pitcher of the Year. McLellan’s dominance included a one‑hitter against Southwest Christian School in Texas and a no‑hitout versus Escambia, moments that highlighted the depth of local talent.
Coaching Excellence
Coaching consistency was recognized when Jason McBride of Pace secured Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Under his guidance the Pirates navigated one of the area’s toughest schedules, advanced to the Region 1‑6A final for the second straight year, and finished the year with a 26‑6 record.
Looking Ahead
As the high school season winds down, the spotlight turns to the next chapter for these athletes. With commitments to colleges, record books being rewritten, and a community that rallies around its teams, the 2026 All‑Area class promises to leave a lasting imprint on the sport in the Florida panhandle.
