The Perry Bluejays gathered on their home diamond for what would become a bittersweet finale for their lone senior, Juan Diego Beato Amparo.
A Senior’s Final Home Appearance
Amparo stepped into the lineup and immediately made his mark, sending a sharp double to the outfield on his very first at‑bat. The crowd’s excitement was palpable as he rounded first and slid safely into second.
He remained in the game for the full seven innings, manning second base with the poise of a veteran. Each time he touched the ball, teammates shouted encouragement, and the dugout erupted in cheers whenever he reached a base.
When the final out was recorded, the Bluejays presented Amparo with a bouquet of flowers, a simple yet powerful gesture that underscored the respect he earned from coaches, peers and opponents alike.
