Kentucky football announced that Pete Nochta, who has served as assistant general manager for the Wildcats, will now lead the program’s personnel operations as general manager, taking over from Pat Biondo who stepped down after a tenure marked by roster building and strategic planning.

Head coach Will Stein lauded Nochta’s impact, noting that his contributions over the past decade have helped shape a competitive roster and that his deep understanding of the program’s culture positions him to continue advancing the team’s ambitions.
Nochta’s journey includes a decade at the University of Louisville, where he progressed from recruiting analyst to director of recruiting, overseeing four years of talent acquisition that culminated in a strong recruiting class before his move to Kentucky.
Athletics director J Batt highlighted the hire as a continuation of the program’s momentum, emphasizing that Nochta’s blend of scouting acumen and institutional knowledge aligns with the Wildcats’ goal of sustained success on the field.
Beyond his professional roles, Nochta’s roots run deep in Kentucky football; his father, John Nochta, earned All‑American honors as a tight end for the University of Kentucky before embarking on a high school coaching career.
Pat Biondo, who departs after guiding the Wildcats through a period of transition, expressed confidence in the program’s future under Nochta’s leadership, while also reflecting on his own contributions to the team’s recent achievements.
