Four-star quarterback Peter Bourque announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Wednesday, flipping from Michigan to the Hokies over the Georgia Bulldogs.
Bourque, ranked as the No. 7 quarterback nationally and the 80th overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class, had visited the University of Georgia campus twice before making his decision.
His pledge represents a significant loss for Georgia, which now finds itself with only one top‑30 quarterback target remaining, Colton Nussmeier, and has seen several other high‑profile prospects decommit or flip to other schools.
The commitment arrives during James Franklin’s inaugural offseason as Virginia Tech’s head coach, giving the program a boost as it seeks to build on recent momentum.
Other powerhouse programs that remain without a top‑30 quarterback pledge include Auburn, UCLA and Penn State, underscoring the competitive nature of the recruiting landscape.
What This Means for the Bulldogs
Georgia’s recruiting class, currently positioned at No. 28 nationally, will need to regroup after losing a player many analysts considered a cornerstone of their future.
Coach Kirby Smart and his staff will continue to pursue other prospects, but the early decommitments raise questions about the program’s ability to retain elite talent.
Meanwhile, Bourque’s high school, Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, will watch his collegiate career with interest, as will the broader New England football community.
