Peyton Gilbert Crowned Pennsylvania Baseball Player of the Year

Fan‑voted honor reflects dominant pitching and hitting performance across the state

A season to remember

Fans across Pennsylvania have crowned Columbia High School senior Peyton Gilbert as the state’s Baseball Player of the Year, awarding him 48.62% of the vote.

Gilbert’s senior campaign was defined by a 0.80 earned run average, 154 strikeouts and just 17 walks over 69.2 innings, a combination that left batters swinging at shadows.

At the plate he batted .340, collecting 18 hits, 13 RBIs, two home runs and eight doubles while scoring eight runs.

The runner‑up, Chase Sherwood of Everett Area, earned 34.49% of the vote after posting a 0.93 ERA and 126 strikeouts in 68 innings, complemented by a .310 average, 13 hits and 12 RBIs.

Branson Diller from Bermudian Springs took third place with 10.99% of the vote, finishing the year 14‑1 with a 0.61 ERA, 114 strikeouts and a .500 batting average that included 11 home runs and 36 RBIs.

The recognition extends beyond the top three, as Cameron Pengelly, Colton Temple and the rest of the state’s elite pitchers and hitters continue to shape high school baseball in Pennsylvania.

Schools such as Columbia High School, Everett Area High School and Bermudian Springs High School have all contributed to the depth of talent that made this season one of the most competitive in recent memory.
