Marshall University announced a significant addition to its women's basketball program on Tuesday, appointing former standout Peyton Ilderton as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations.
Ilderton, a native of Logan, brings a deep understanding of the program after a distinguished playing career that included 82 three‑point shots in a single season and a place among the top ten in program history for career triples.
The move follows the elevation of Brianna Ellis to Director of Basketball Operations for the 2025‑26 season, a decision praised by Head Coach Juli Fulks, who described Ilderton as "an incredible representative of Marshall Women’s Basketball."
Beyond her statistical achievements, Ilderton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, was recognized with CSC Academic All‑District honors, and served as a Kay Yow Servant Award Leader, an honor bestowed on only 62 athletes nationwide.
Her journey with the Thundering Herd began as a walk‑on, progressed to an athletic scholarship midway through her freshman year, and culminated in 121 career appearances, underscoring her durability and commitment.
Coach Fulks highlighted the dual impact of the new role, noting that Ilderton’s blend of on‑court experience and academic excellence will strengthen the program’s operational foundation while inspiring current student‑athletes.
The university also took the opportunity to recognize the broader support staff changes, reinforcing its commitment to building a competitive and sustainable women's basketball program in the coming years.
A New Chapter for the Herd
Ilderton’s appointment signals a strategic investment in continuity, leveraging the knowledge of alumni who have witnessed the program’s evolution from within.
