Philadelphia is set to host six FIFA World Cup matches between June 14 and July 4, 2026, bringing the world’s premier soccer tournament to the city’s historic streets and vibrant neighborhoods.
The festivities will extend beyond the stadiums, with the FIFA Fan Festival scheduled at Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park from June 11 through July 19, offering fans a chance to celebrate the sport in a communal setting.
A Festival of Football and Culture
Philadelphia’s soccer legacy is rooted in long‑standing community clubs such as the Lighthouse Soccer Club and the Ukrainian Nationals, both of which have produced players who have represented the United States on the international stage.
Professionally, the city is anchored by the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer, whose Academy is recognized as one of the most sophisticated youth development programs in the league.
In addition to established institutions, a new wave of innovative projects — including Design FC, Street FC, Live Breathe Futbol and Fishtown FC — adds a creative dimension to the local scene, providing alternative pathways for aspiring athletes and fans.
The city’s cultural corridors, representing neighborhoods from Brazil and Haiti to France, weave together diverse traditions, turning public spaces into stages for celebration, music and culinary exchange.
Organizers anticipate that the tournament and accompanying festival will generate substantial economic activity, while also reinforcing community ties and offering youth programs a platform to showcase their talents.
