Front Office Restructuring
Philadelphia — In a move that signals a fresh direction for the franchise, the Phillies disclosed a sweeping reshuffle of their baseball operations staff on Tuesday. The changes, announced by executive vice president Dave Dombrowski, come as the club prepares for the 2027 campaign and aim to reinforce its player development and analytical pipelines.
Dan Aucoin, previously senior director of baseball solutions, will step into an assistant general manager role focused on research and information. Luke Murton, known for his work in player development, is promoted to assistant general manager, hitting, where he will oversee the minor‑league hitting development program and guide the team’s approach at the plate.
Ned Rice will broaden his involvement on the business side of the organization, taking on additional contract‑negotiation responsibilities, while Edwin Soto assumes a new mantle of baseball administration, inheriting portions of Rice’s former duties. Corinne Landrey also receives expanded duties on the baseball operations side, further consolidating the department’s strategic focus.
The reshuffle will see Lee McDaniel retire in January 2027 after a long tenure as director of minor league operations. Succeeding him, Ray Robles will take over as director of minor league, international operations, ensuring continuity in the club’s global scouting and player acquisition efforts.
Under the new structure, the Phillies will be led by five assistant general managers reporting to Dave Dombrowski and Preston Mattingly: Ned Rice, Dan Aucoin, Luke Murton, Brian Barber and Jorge Velandia. In a related development, Sam Fuld, after completing an MBA at the Wharton School, was named president of business operations in May, adding a corporate dimension to the front office.
