Phillip Hindes Joins Valley City State University Baseball Coaching Staff

Former Rainy River and Minnesota Crookston player brings playing experience to Viking program

Phillip Hindes has been appointed assistant coach for Valley City State University Baseball, bringing a blend of playing experience and coaching insight to the Viking program.

A native of Tucson, Arizona, Hindes began his collegiate career at Rainy River Community College in International Falls, Minnesota, where he honed his skills over two seasons before moving on to the University of Minnesota Crookston.

At Minnesota Crookston he completed three more seasons, culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Recreation Management, a foundation that now informs his approach to coaching.

Following his playing days, Hindes returned to Rainy River Community College to begin his coaching career, spending three seasons there and gaining valuable leadership experience on the bench.

Looking Ahead

Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Hindes highlighted his eagerness to contribute to the Viking baseball program, noting the opportunity to shape the next generation of student‑athletes while drawing on his own journey from the Midwest to the Southwest.
