Summer Skills Camp Launches at Philomath High
Philomath High School will host a three‑day youth basketball camp for girls entering grades three through eight, running from June 16 to June 18. Sessions will be held each morning from 9 a.m. to noon in the school’s two gymnasiums, giving participants ample time to develop their abilities on the court.
The camp is being organized by the Philomath High girls basketball program and will be directed by Coach Ben Silva along with high school coaches and players. Instruction will be divided by age and skill level, ensuring that each camper receives appropriate challenges and support.
Focus on Fundamental Skills
Campers can expect a curriculum that emphasizes dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, defensive positioning and team play. Daily activities include dynamic warmups, ball‑handling drills, station work, individual contests and small‑sided team competitions designed to reinforce concepts in a fun environment.
The cost to attend is $75 for those who pre‑register by June 9, or $100 for on‑site registration. The fee covers daily snacks and a camp T‑shirt, with shirts guaranteed only for early registrants. Participants should bring clean basketball shoes, athletic shorts, a T‑shirt and a water bottle.
How to Register
Registration forms are available at the Philomath Middle School and Philomath Elementary School offices, and can also be completed online via a QR code printed on the camp flyer. Completed forms and payment should be submitted to secure a spot, as space is limited.
