The Green Bay women’s soccer team earned a 2-0 road win against North Dakota on Sunday, snapping a set-piece early deficit and moving to a 2-0-0 start for the first time since 2022.
Dominance in the First Half
From the opening whistle the Phoenix dictated play, outshooting the Fighting Hawks 7-0 with four of those attempts on target, while North Dakota failed to register a single shot before the break.
A Second-Half Turnaround
North Dakota struck first in the 49th minute when Hunter Borgel capitalised on a set-piece, but the Phoenix answered swiftly. Laney Stark levelled the score in the 64th minute, her second goal of the season, and Senah Hanes sealed the victory with a strike in the 81st minute, giving her three goals in two games.

Head coach Matt Kagan highlighted the squad’s focus and resilience, noting that the team’s ability to recover after conceding a set-piece goal was a defining moment. He also pointed to the defensive solidity that limited North Dakota to just two shots on goal.
The match also saw a single yellow card for Grace Downey and a save from Anna Scott, who turned aside two attempts from the Fighting Hawks. Overall, Green Bay outshot North Dakota 13-2, underscoring the offensive pressure that built the comeback.
