The Tampa Bay Lightning announced this week that Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, the French forward who hung up his skates earlier this summer, will now serve as a player development specialist for the franchise.
Bellemare, who spent three seasons with the Lightning and logged 153 NHL appearances, brings a wealth of experience that includes 700 career games, 64 goals and 138 points, to a role that will see him work closely with the organization’s forward prospects and the Syracuse Crunch staff under development chief JP Cote.
Strategic Vision for Forward Development
His path to the Lightning was marked by stints with the Philadelphia Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche and Seattle Kraken, each of which contributed to a career that also featured a memorable run at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, where he represented France and scored a goal in just 18 minutes of ice time.
Although his most recent season was spent in the Swiss National League with HC Ajoie, Bellemare’s decision to retire from playing paved the way for a transition into coaching and player development, a move that the Lightning view as a strategic addition to their hockey operations.
