The Pinnacle baseball squad endured a rough stretch, dropping two consecutive road contests that left its early-season record battered.
A dominant first inning
On the road against Panguitch, the Panthers were overwhelmed in the opening frame as the opposition erupted for 12 runs. Deklan Guymon surrendered seven hits and 12 earned runs in a single inning, while Jac Workman added three earned runs before being relieved.
Starter Isaiah Hayes closed the game for Pinnacle, giving up six earned runs on four hits and striking out twice, underscoring the team's pitching woes.
A second defeat against the Tintic Miners
The following night the Panthers fell 19‑2 to the Tintic Miners. A hit‑by‑pitch to Peyton Howell brought in Hernan Nunez, and later Joshua Cerini walked and scored Hayes, who went 1‑2 with a run. The Miners pulled away with six more runs in the bottom of the third, turning a close contest into a 19‑2 loss.
Angelo Vigil contributed an RBI single, while Howell and Cerini each added an RBI of their own. In the same game, Isaiah Hayes took the mound for Pinnacle and surrendered 13 earned runs on 12 hits over one inning.
Looking ahead
Despite the setbacks, the Panthers are scheduled to host the Piute Thunderbirds at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, hoping to rebound before the next series of away games.
