The Pinnacle Panthers traveled to Price, Utah, where they were shut out 29-0 by the Valley Buffalo in a five-inning contest that quickly turned into a rout.
A dominant opening inning
Valley Buffalo exploded for 21 runs in the very first inning, adding eight more before the game was called, a surge that set the tone for the rest of the match.
The Panthers' defense was equally problematic, committing 12 errors that kept the opposition's momentum alive and prevented any chance of a comeback.
Mound struggles
Adding to the frustration, Pinnacle turned to four different pitchers, none of whom could stem the tide; Valley's pitchers combined for a no-hit shutout.
Starter Noa Ogilvie surrendered 10 runs in just one-third of a frame, while Isaiah Hayes followed with 14 runs allowed over 1 ⅔ innings, and Angleo Vigil managed only a single out before being pulled.
Reliever Deklan Guymon managed to strike out three batters over two innings, but the damage had already been done.
The loss dropped the Panthers to 0-4 on the season, and they now turn their attention to a Friday showdown with the defending 1A state champions, the Panguitch Bobcats.
Looking ahead
Despite the early-season slide, the team hopes to regroup and find stability before confronting the Bobcats, a test that could define the remainder of their campaign.
