Now in its third decade, the event is overseen by Curt Schilling, who has coordinated the shootout for the past twenty years. Sanctioned officials and a consistent schedule have turned the gathering into a reliable showcase for emerging talent, drawing schools from Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota alike.
Pipestone Area Schools (PAS) entered both its boys' and girls' squads, each coached by long‑time mentors. Grant Everson guided the girls' team, which finished the 2025‑26 season with a 23‑4 record, captured the Section 3A South Subsection Tournament, and entered the post‑Jadyn Kor era with a core that includes Josie Danks, Avery Reinhard and Rhaelee Heidebrink.
The girls' schedule pitted PAS against Rapid City Christian, West Lyon and Western Christian, all of whom posted 17‑win campaigns in the same season. The team’s chemistry was evident in tight contests, and the experience offered younger players such as Emersyn Smidt, Kenzley Pater and Oakley Pater valuable varsity minutes.
On the boys' side, Michael Slaba directed a squad that traveled to South Dakota to meet Vermillion, Wagner and Yankton.
