Season Opens on the Road
The 2026‑27 campaign begins with a September 30 showdown against the Philadelphia Flyers on the road. That early test sets the tone for a schedule that blends division battles, cross‑conference matchups and a handful of marquee dates throughout the winter.
Fans will mark their calendars for the home opener on October 3, when the Penguins host the Montreal Canadiens. The early months also feature three Saturday night games at PPG Paints Arena, a four‑game December homestand and a final home game against the Flyers on April 3 that wraps up the regular season.
The full slate includes 84 games, with each Metropolitan Division opponent visited four times and every Western Conference rival met twice. The Penguins will endure a lengthy road trip that swings through Edmonton, Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Minnesota, while also hosting 18 weekend games that make up roughly 43 % of their home schedule.
The NHL’s schedule was presented by UPMC, and broadcast details will be announced later. Single‑game tickets go on sale August 5, and the season will feature 15 sets of back‑to‑back contests. Notable home opponents include Calgary, Toronto, Carolina, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Washington, while the team’s star captain Sidney Crosby and longtime rival Alex Ovechkin will continue to draw attention throughout the year.
