Pleasantville Baseball and Softball Teams Split Results Ahead of Van Meter Showdown

A strong pitching performance and a narrow softball loss set the stage for upcoming matches

Baseball Victory

The Pleasantville baseball team improved to 16-1 on the season with a 5-1 victory over Des Moines Christian on Tuesday night.

Right-hander Brayden Kennedy delivered a stellar outing, tossing six and one-third innings while allowing just one run, five hits and striking out twelve batters.

Freshman Braylon Bingham, returning from injury, went 2-for-3 with two RBI, adding a timely hit that helped fuel the offense.

In the seventh inning, Will Mesecher delivered a two-RBI single that capped the scoring burst.

Logan Roff was on base all four times he stepped to the plate and scored twice, providing steady production at the top of the lineup.

The team now looks ahead to a showdown with Van Meter, a match that could prove pivotal in the conference race.

Softball Setback

The softball squad fell 2-1 to Des Moines Christian despite taking a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning, when the Lions answered with two runs to seize the win.

Lainey Kennedy pitched every inning for the Trojans, holding the opposition to two runs while the offense could not find a breakthrough.

Coach Alee Phillips praised the team’s effort, noting they ‘did a good job putting pressure on the Lions’ even in the loss.

The Trojans now sit at 6-6 overall and will also meet Van Meter next, hoping to rebound in their upcoming contest.
