The Pleasantville baseball squad is set to travel to Carroll, Iowa, for the Class 2A State Baseball Quarterfinals, where they will square off against the Western Valley Conference powerhouse Ridge View on Tuesday.
Ridge View’s Impressive Season
Ridge View enters the matchup with a 22‑4 overall record and a 7‑2 mark in conference play, having secured third place in the league and captured a substate title by defeating Grundy Center.
The team’s offense is anchored by a .360 team batting average and a 3.24 collective ERA, producing nearly nine runs per game while limiting opponents to four.
Seniors Blake Myrtue and Owen Worthan lead the hitting attack, posting averages of .482 and .435 respectively, with 38 and 30 hits and 26 and 34 runs batted in.
A deep pitching staff features five starters who have each logged at least four starts and 18 innings, highlighted by sophomore Aiden Myrture’s 28.2 innings, 5‑0 record and 4.15 ERA, and senior Eli Franken’s 27.2 innings, 3‑1 record and 2.28 ERA.
