Dominant Performances on the Diamond
Pleasantville’s baseball and softball teams both posted decisive victories on the road Monday, defeating Earlham in West Central Conference matchups that set up a highly anticipated showdown tonight against Pella Christian.
The softball contest ended 6-3 in favor of the Trojans. Lainey Kennedy delivered 5 1⁄3 innings on the mound, allowing three hits, two earned runs and recording a single strikeout, while Tenley Elliott followed with 1 2⁄3 scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Offensively, Bella Sutter, Harper McGraw and Claira Vestal each contributed two hits, helping the team compile 11 hits overall.
The baseball squad answered with a 16-0 drubbing of the Cardinals. Brayden Kennedy, Luke Vestal and Noah Rist combined for a five‑inning perfect game, striking out nine batters without surrendering a run. At the plate, Logan Roff, Easton Cox, JJ Phillips and Will Mesecher each logged multiple hits, pushing the team to a 14‑28 collective batting performance.
Both squads now turn their attention to tonight’s contest with Pella Christian, aiming to extend their winning streaks as the Trojans sit at 11‑7 in softball and 21‑1 in baseball.
