Record Signing Class Highlights PMA's Football Pipeline
St. Pius X‑St. Matthias Academy, known locally as PMA, unveiled a landmark commitment list that includes six athletes signing to play at the collegiate level next fall. The ceremony, held on campus, drew families, teammates and local supporters eager to mark the occasion.
The Warriors have built a reputation for producing top‑tier talent, a fact underscored by four CIF Finals appearances since 2019 and a championship victory last year. Coach Devah Thomas and athletic director James Covell took the opportunity to applaud the students' dedication and the program's steady rise.
Among the signees, DeMari Nunley will join the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, while Elijah Ali heads to the University of Texas at Austin. Marcus Ball and Kenny Peevy both chose Sacramento State, Jaylen Stokes opted for New Mexico State, and Gregory Taylor is set to play at Western Colorado University.
Each player expressed a mix of excitement and gratitude during the signing event. Nunley spoke of his eagerness to work under Coach Dan Mullen at UNLV, while Ali thanked his mother and the Texas staff for their support. Stokes highlighted the influence of Coach Thomas on his journey, and Peevy reflected on the significance of the day for his family.
The commitments also signal a continued pipeline of talent feeding into diverse collegiate programs across the country. Covell emphasized that PMA's mission extends beyond athletics, shaping well‑rounded young men who are prepared for academic and personal challenges.
