The 2026 Polk County high school football season is fast approaching, building on a 2025 that saw several local programs reach deep into state playoffs.
A season of triumphs
Lakeland, finishing the year at 12‑3, captured the Class 5A state championship, while Lake Wales Highlanders posted a 10‑3 record and advanced to the Class 4A regional finals. Lakeland Christian went 8‑3 and reached the Class 1A first round, and All Saints completed an undefeated run to win the SSAA Class 1A title for the fourth time in school history.
More teams on the rise
The success extended beyond those four programs, with Winter Haven, Lake Gibson, Ridge Community, Auburndale and Fort Meade also earning postseason berths.
