Summer Baseball Camp Fuels Future Stars
The Port Neches‑Groves baseball camp, held in Port Neches, Texas, offers young athletes a chance to sharpen their fundamentals while immersing themselves in the high school program’s culture.
Head coach Tim Erickson says the camp’s core mission is to teach the basics and fine‑tune skills that players are already developing at younger levels, ensuring a solid foundation for future growth.
Among the participants, sixth‑grader Preston Brown is focused on becoming a positive leader, modeling how to spread out and support teammates, while Easton Gallier concentrates on improving ground‑ball techniques, hitting and softball fundamentals.
Rain forced several sessions indoors, but the camp’s flexible drills and station rotations keep the energy high, allowing campers to practice leadership, specific baseball skills, and adapt to any venue.
Erickson looks ahead to the long‑term future of the program, envisioning the current campers maturing and eventually joining the high school team, a vision that underscores the camp’s role in building continuity.
