The Port Washington High School baseball program celebrated a milestone this season, posting a record that finally rose above the .500 mark. After a series of close contests, the Pirates closed out the year with a 14‑13 overall record, earning second place in the newly formed Glacier Trails Conference.
Conference honors highlight a breakout season
The league recognized the team's impact by placing six players on the all‑conference first team. The selections reflected not only individual talent but also the depth of contribution across the roster, signaling a promising future for the program.
Sophomore Max Webb emerged as the centerpiece of the accolades, earning first‑team honors as both pitcher and utility player. Webb logged 46 strikeouts in 34⅔ innings, posted a 2.62 ERA, and consistently threw fastballs that reached 86 mph. At the plate he batted .417, drove in 16 runs, and maintained a .961 fielding percentage.
Junior Jackson Bergin also received first‑team recognition, praised for his pitching precision and batting consistency. He threw out 27 % of baserunners, posted a .344 conference average, and compiled a .476 on‑base percentage. Senior center fielder O'Neil Wright impressed with a .391 conference batting average and a perfect 1.000 fielding record, while sophomore Thomas Ward delivered a five‑inning no‑hitter and finished the season with a 2.47 ERA.
Relief pitcher Sam Thompson anchored the staff with a 2.94 GTC ERA and a season best 2.35 ERA, tossing a team‑high 45 innings and striking out 48 batters. Senior third baseman Jackson Dickson contributed a .490 on‑base percentage in conference play, rounding out a balanced lineup that combined power, speed, and defensive reliability.
The Pirates' 14‑13 finish placed them second in the GTC standings, a testament to a competitive schedule and steady improvement throughout the year.
