The University of Portland’s women’s soccer program continues to garner national attention as the Pilots announced three preseason All‑West Coast Conference selections, highlighting a defense that remains among the league’s most formidable.
Defensive Excellence Recognized
Defenders Hailey Bagby and Violet Rademacher, alongside midfielder Aliyah Dockter, were cited for their impact on a back line that posted a 0.632 goals‑against average and a .526 shutout rate last season. Bagby’s two goals in 1,364 minutes and Rademacher’s seven goals with an assist underscore their offensive contributions from the rear.
The Pilots’ defensive resurgence is reflected in their preseason coaches poll standing, where they are tied for second with Santa Clara and earned 61 points, trailing only Pepperdine’s 81. The poll underscores the team’s consistency, marking the fifth straight year the program has secured at least nine victories and the third 10‑plus win season in the past four years.
Beyond the back line, Dockter brings academic excellence and regional recognition, having earned two WCC All‑Academic Team honors and a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All‑West Region selection. Her midfield presence adds depth as the squad prepares for exhibition matches against the Oregon Ducks on August 5 and the Washington Huskies on August 12.
Rademacher’s accolades extend to the 2026 United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch List and an All‑West Region Second Team nod, complementing her First Team All‑WCC status from the previous year. The collective honors position the Pilots as a top contender heading into the upcoming campaign.
