Powell Panthers Close State Tournament with Resilience
The Powell High School girls' soccer team concluded a competitive state tournament, finishing third after a series of hard‑fought matches. The Panthers opened with a 4‑0 victory over Rawlins, followed by a 2‑0 setback against Lander in the semifinals, and closed the weekend with a 4‑1 win over Buffalo for third place.
Ivy Agee was the offensive catalyst, delivering a hat‑trick in the Buffalo matchup and adding three goals in the opening win. Her precision helped the team navigate a challenging bracket, while Aspen French contributed the first goal against Buffalo, underscoring the depth of talent on the roster.
Coach Danny Agee praised the squad’s perseverance and highlighted the emergence of younger players who are poised to assume leadership roles. He noted that the departure of key starters — Ivy Agee, Patricia Christensen and Josie Hallock — will be balanced by the readiness of the next generation.
Despite the loss of several seniors, the program looks forward to building on this season’s momentum. Community support remains strong, and the team’s youthful core promises continued growth in the upcoming campaign.
