Providence College announced this week that Christian Pino will join the program as its new men’s basketball recruiting coordinator.
Pino arrives after five years at the University of Alabama, where he served as director of player development and recruiting coordinator, helping the Crimson Tide capture two SEC Regular Season titles and two SEC Tournament championships.
During his tenure, Pino played a pivotal role in shaping talent that has transitioned to the NBA, including Herb Jones, Josh Primo, Alex Reese and Jaden Shackelford, while collaborating closely with Coach Bryan Hodgson on opponent scouting.
A coaching journey rooted in competition
Pino’s coaching path began as an assistant at Seaholm High School in 2018‑19, and his playing days at Arizona State and Buffalo saw him contribute to MAC Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances under Nate Oats. He later helped lead Romulus High School to a Michigan Class A state championship in 2013, working alongside Coach Herb Sendek.
The hire is expected to bolster Providence’s recruiting reach and bring a proven track record of developing future professionals to the Rhode Island campus.
