Putnam Science Academy’s basketball program, long known for its championship pedigree, will begin playing its home games at Woodstock Academy starting in the 2026‑27 academic year. The relocation comes after the school’s short‑lived partnership with Overtime Elite collapsed earlier this year.
Why the Move Matters
The transition follows PSA’s brief alliance with Overtime Elite, a professional development league that attracted the school before the arrangement dissolved. School leaders say the new partnership with Woodstock Academy aligns with a desire to combine top‑tier competition with a robust academic program.
A Legacy of Coaching
Coaches Tom Espinosa and Josh Scraba, who have steered the Mustangs since 2007, will carry forward the program’s winning culture. Under Espinosa’s guidance the team captured multiple national titles, and more than 100 alumni have gone on to Division I play, including six who reached the NBA.
A Holistic Student‑Athlete Experience
Woodstock Academy’s Head of School, Dr. Lawrence Filippelli, highlighted the partnership as an opportunity to enrich the student‑athlete experience. He noted that the academy’s strong academic offerings and modern campus facilities will complement the program’s athletic ambitions.
Looking Ahead
The relocation reflects a broader trend of elite high‑school programs seeking environments that balance competition with education. As the Mustangs settle into their new home, the expectation is that the blend of rigorous coursework and elite basketball will prepare prospects for both college and professional pathways.
