The Pueblo Sports Management & Entertainment Group and the Pueblo Ice Arena have unveiled the new name and logo for the franchise that will compete in the North American Hockey League under the moniker Pueblo Peppers.
A Fresh Start for Pueblo Hockey
The rebranding marks the end of the Chippewa era and the beginning of a new chapter for the team, which will draw on a core of players from the former roster while forging its own identity.
David Nelson, a key figure at PSMEG, explained that the shift from Chippewa to Pueblo was swift, driven by a desire to honor the city’s heritage and to energize the fan base.
The inaugural home game is slated for October 2 against Idaho Falls, kicking off a season that begins in September and stretches through April. In total, the Peppers will host 28 home contests, the most ever for a regular season in the league.
Management has promised a slate of promotional nights and the debut of an exclusive jersey during the opening week, all aimed at deepening community engagement and boosting attendance.
Beyond the ice, the organization is investing in facility upgrades to create a more welcoming environment for spectators, a move that reflects a broader ambition to grow the sport locally.
