A Revamped Linebacker Group
The Boilermakers enter the new campaign with a linebacker corps that blends proven production and fresh talent. After a season that saw the defense struggle for consistency, the coaching staff has emphasized building a unit capable of creating more defensive havoc while staying healthy enough to sustain performance throughout the schedule.
At the heart of the group is Charles Correa, who earned the starting role at weak‑side linebacker. Correa led the team last year with 7.5 tackles for loss and is expected to take another step forward, potentially earning All‑Big Ten honors if he can maintain his upward trajectory.
Adding depth and Big Ten experience, Jojo Hayden arrives from Illinois. Known for his size and ability to handle pulling guards, Hayden brings a physical presence that complements Correa’s playmaking instincts.
Another significant addition is Anthony Speca, a transfer from Penn State celebrated for his speed. Regarded as one of the higher‑rated portal pickups, Speca is expected to bring a dynamic edge to the pass rush and run support.
