Who Could Lock Down the Left Guard?
Freshman Brock Brownfield, who enrolled early and took part in spring workouts, is being touted as a strong candidate to start at left guard from day one. His physical presence and rapid assimilation into the scheme have turned heads among the coaching staff.
At quarterback, Ryan Browne has taken a noticeable step forward during fall camp. Improved decision‑making, quicker reads in 7‑on‑7 drills and more reliable checkdowns suggest the senior is ready to shoulder a larger share of the offense.
The secondary is also drawing attention. Transfer Don Saunders, a former Utah cornerback, brings length, speed and confidence that have earned him early praise, while Hudauri Hines returns as a starter and is expected to share cornerback duties.
With three spots still undecided on the offensive line, the staff is weighing options that include other freshmen such as Rico Schreiber. The competition is fierce, but the depth chart is beginning to crystallize as the team approaches its first game.
