Purdue Fort Wayne's women's basketball program is gearing up for the 2026‑27 season with a fresh infusion of talent.
Head coach Kate Peterson Abiad announced the arrival of four newcomers through the transfer portal, each bringing a distinct skill set that she believes will reshape the team's dynamics.
A roster built for versatility
The class features guard Meegan Fahy, guard Madison Lewis, guard Hiba Malkawi, and forward Amaris Timmons, a mix of size, speed, and grit.
Fahy, a 5‑foot‑6 guard from Niles, Illinois, arrives after a standout high school career in which she led her team to a 31‑2 record and posted 4.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per game at SIUE.
Lewis, a 5‑foot‑7 guard from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, earned NJCAA First Team All‑American honors and was named the Great Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year after averaging 16.3 points as a sophomore at Wabash Valley.
Malkawi, a 5‑foot‑7 guard from Plano, Texas, has logged stints at Eastern Oklahoma State, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Southern Illinois, where she averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game in 2022.
Timmons, a 6‑foot‑1 forward from Bridgeport, Connecticut, contributed 6.3 points per game at Langston before dominating high school play with 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.
Coach Abiad emphasized that the newcomers will add depth, defensive intensity and scoring options, positioning the team to compete strongly in the upcoming season.
The university's athletic department and its partners, including Purdue Fort Wayne, SIUE, Eastern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Langston and other institutions, are confident that this transfer class will elevate the program's profile and performance.
