Purdue’s men’s basketball squad kicked off its Canadian swing with a convincing 102-63 win over the Vancouver Selects on Tuesday night, turning the exhibition into a showcase of offensive firepower.
The Boilermakers built a 60-35 lead by halftime, a margin powered by seven players combining for ten three-pointers and a dominant rebounding effort that set the tone for the night.
Scoring was led by Antione West Jr., who poured in 21 points, including five from beyond the arc, while Gicarri Harris added 18, 12 of which came in the first half, underscoring the team’s depth.
Defensively, the team showed flashes of promise, notably from Daniel Jacobsen, who altered several shots, but coach Brad Stevens noted that settling in quickly and tightening up on the break remain works in progress.
Defensive Adjustments on the Horizon
Looking ahead, the next three opponents will be genuine college teams with established systems, presenting a stiffer test of the lessons learned from this exhibition and prompting the staff to sharpen defensive rotations and ball handling before the regular season begins.
