PWHL Hamilton announced today that it has inked forward Anna Shokhina to a one‑year deal ahead of the 2026‑27 season, bringing the club’s roster to fourteen skaters.
Championship pedigree joins Hamilton
Shokhina, a 29‑year‑old native of Novosinkovo, Russia, joins the team after stints with Dynamo‑Neva St. Petersburg and Tornado Dimitrov, clubs with which she captured four Zhenskaya Hockey League titles and established herself as a point‑producing engine.
An Olympian on three occasions and a three‑time Universiade gold medallist, she previously led the league in scoring with 73 points while netting 30 goals for Dynamo‑Neva, a season that cemented her reputation as one of the league’s most consistent attackers.
Selected in the second round by the Ottawa Charge during the 2025 PWHL Draft, Shokhina spent her rookie year with the Vancouver Goldeneyes, recording five points in 28 games before returning to Europe for a prolific campaign.
Her addition follows a wave of high‑profile signings for Hamilton, which already boasts veterans such as Emily Clark, Brianne Jenner and Peyton Hemp, as well as a defensive core that includes Zoe Boyd, Riley Brengman, Nicole Gosling, Anna Kjellbin and Allyson Simpson, anchored by net‑minder Kayle Osborne.
Coach remarks highlighted the strategic value of Shokhina’s experience, noting that her international résumé and proven clutch performances should bolster Hamilton’s push for a playoff berth. The club’s management expressed confidence that the forward’s blend of skill and resilience will translate into immediate impact on the ice.
Fans have greeted the signing with enthusiasm, viewing the acquisition as a clear signal that Hamilton intends to remain competitive in the league’s inaugural season, and the team’s upcoming schedule will provide an early test of the new lineup’s chemistry.
