The Quaker Valley varsity hockey team capped a remarkable season by capturing the 2025‑26 state championship, completing a 14‑game playoff run that will be remembered as one of the program’s most dominant performances.
The Championship Journey
In the final matchup, the Quakers routed Hershey 6‑2, a victory that secured the title and showcased their offensive firepower.
Their path to the finals included a hard‑fought 6‑2 win over defending champion Avonworth in the Penguins Cup, a game that cemented their status as the team to beat.
The regular season saw the Quakers post a 23‑1‑1 record, outscoring opponents 132‑29, while the playoffs added a 26‑7 margin, underscoring their consistency.
Five players earned PIHL Class A all‑star honors — Luke Koehler, Max Modrovich, Jace Vasbinder, Matthias Lezama and Ian Lorang — highlighting the depth of talent on the roster.
Ian Lorang was named playoff MVP after posting a 1.56 goals‑against average, six shutouts and just 23 goals allowed in 751 minutes of ice time.
Defensive Backbone and Community Support
The defensive core, anchored by Lorang, Luke Koehler and Jack Watson, combined with forward speed from Modrovich and Vasbinder to limit opponents, while the broader community rallied with police and fire truck escorts that added a festive backdrop to the team’s triumph.
The championship rings were presented at a celebratory ceremony on August 7 at the Edgeworth Club, where each piece was personalized to reflect the players’ journeys and the team’s historic achievement.
The title marks the second state championship for Quaker Valley, following the 2012 crown, and the first since 2006, cementing the program’s legacy and setting a high bar for future squads.
