The Toledo Walleye announced today that forward Quinn Preston will suit up for the club during the 2026‑27 campaign, marking his first return to the organization since making his professional debut in 2021‑22.
A Familiar Face Returns to the Walleye
Preston’s comeback adds a seasoned presence to a young roster. The 27‑year‑old brings a blend of offensive skill and physical play that has defined his five‑year ECHL journey across Toledo, Wichita and Kalamazoo.
During his most recent stint with the Kalamazoo Wings, he recorded 53 points and 54 penalty minutes in 69 games, following a 2023‑24 season in which he contributed 22 points for Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Across the ECHL, Preston has amassed 181 points and 151 penalty minutes in 236 appearances, highlighting a consistency that has made him a fan favourite in multiple markets.
His collegiate years at Ohio State further honed his abilities, where he tallied 72 points in 127 games and served as an alternate captain during his junior and senior seasons. Prior to college, the Dubuque native posted 90 points in 115 games over two USHL seasons, setting the stage for a successful transition to professional hockey.
Coaches say his leadership will be invaluable as the Walleye look to build on last season’s playoff run. “Quinn brings a work ethic and a winning mindset that aligns perfectly with our culture,” said head coach Jeff Jackson. The team hopes his familiarity with the market will also boost ticket sales and community engagement.
