Rafa Hyde, a senior forward for the Gannon Golden Knights, has been recognized as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Athlete of the Week after a standout opening stretch of the season.
The Brazilian native, who arrived on campus from São José dos Campos, logged 143 minutes across two matches, registering a goal and an assist while firing six shots, three of which tested the opposition goalkeeper.
His contributions helped the team snap a 1‑1 draw with Lake Erie and then crush East Stroudsburg 5‑2, a victory that marked the program’s first win of the campaign.
A Promising Start
The Golden Knights are slated to face Ashland on Friday evening, September 4, at 6:30 p.m., a match that could further cement Hyde’s early impact on the squad.
Coach remarks and fan anticipation underline the significance of Hyde’s performance, highlighting both his technical skill and his growing influence within the program.
