Midland High’s girls soccer program has etched a new chapter in its history, capturing the attention of the Texas high school sports community with a season that blended resilience and tactical growth.
Coach of the Year accolade
Rafael Gonzalez, the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, was selected as the 2026 Region 4 Class 6A Coach of the Year by the Texas High School Coaches Association, honoring his leadership that guided the team to a 12‑10‑2 record and a regional semifinal berth.
The achievement marks the farthest the program has advanced since the 2015 postseason, a benchmark that had stood for nearly a decade.
Assistant coach honored
Alongside Gonzalez, assistant coach Eric Chavez received the Region 4 Class 6A Assistant Coach of the Year award, underscoring the staff’s collective impact on the team’s success.
