A promising future
Raife Smith, a standout athlete from Mid‑Buchanan High School, has signed a letter of intent to join the basketball program at Garden City Community College in Kansas. His high school résumé includes all‑state honors in basketball and football, as well as district Player of the Year recognition, underscoring a career defined by excellence across multiple sports.
Beyond basketball, Smith also competed in baseball, track and field, and other athletic pursuits. The move to Garden City marks a strategic shift toward focusing exclusively on basketball as he transitions to the junior college level.
Commitment and focus
Smith’s decision reflects a blend of perseverance and family pride. He cited the desire to honor his roots while embracing new challenges, emphasizing that the commitment is as much about personal growth as it is about athletic achievement.
The Broncbusters open their season on November 6th against Ranger College, a debut that will showcase Smith’s transition from multi‑sport high school star to focused collegiate competitor. Coaches and teammates are eager to see how his diverse athletic background translates to the faster pace of college basketball.
