Rain Forces Postponement of Key Supersectional Games

An unexpected bout of overnight rain swept across the Peoria region on Monday, prompting the Illinois High School Association to delay several supersectional baseball contests that were originally slated for the weekend.

Officials announced that all affected games will be rescheduled for Tuesday, June 9, allowing teams additional preparation time while ensuring safe playing conditions after the storm.

In the Class 2A Peru Supersectional, Brimfield/Elmwood will meet Ottawa Marquette at 5 p.m. at St. Bede’s campus, while in the Class 1A DeKalb Supersectional, Putnam County takes on Galena at 3:30 p.m. on the campus of Northern Illinois University.

Other matchups have also been moved. The Class 3A Geneseo Supersectional game between East Peoria and Geneva was transferred to Black Hawk College in Moline and remains set for a 6 p.m. start. Meanwhile, the Class 1A Bloomington Supersectional will see Tremont face Armstrong at 6 p.m. on the grounds of Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Illinois High School Association coordinated the relocations with host institutions, confirming that each venue is equipped to accommodate the revised schedule. Fans and players alike are eager to see how the teams will perform under the new conditions.

The adjustments reflect the association’s commitment to preserving the integrity of the tournament while prioritizing player safety and field quality after the weather disruption.
