Missouri State had opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning, capitalizing on a sacrifice fly by Taeg Gollert and an RBI fielder’s choice from Caden Bogenpohl.
Liberty answered quickly, plating three runs on a flurry of singles, and later took the lead when Gabe Roessler launched a solo homer in the second frame. The game saw further ties and lead changes, including a fourth‑inning homer by Bobby Atkinson that knotted the contest at 4‑4.
A nearly two‑hour delay followed the rain, after which officials decided to suspend play. The resumption is scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m. Central, with the winner advancing to the championship game later that day.
