The Wisconsin Badgers entered their seventh practice of fall camp with a familiar challenge: rain. After starting the session in the low 70s at Camp Randall Stadium, coaches moved the squad to the Kellner Family Athletic Center to keep the work going.
Defensive Dominance Amidst the Rain
The move didn’t dampen the intensity. Defensive tackle Hammond Russell, a sixth‑year senior transfer from West Virginia, seized a pass, secured the ball and sprinted 90 yards for a touchdown that underscored the No. 1 defense’s chemistry with Charles Perkins.
Sophomore safety Cairo Skanes added his own spark, stepping into the secondary and picking off a pass from Ryan Hopkins while delivering a tackle for loss that highlighted his growing role.
Other moments peppered the session. Tight end Jacob Harris made a physical impression on Marvin Burks, while Nick Clayton tipped a throw from Hopkins. Deuce Adams flashed burst on a long option run, reminding observers of the team’s offensive versatility.
Despite the weather disruption, the Badgers used the indoor setting to fine‑tune schemes and build momentum heading into the next phase of camp.
