Rain Forces Postponement of NASCAR Races at Charlotte Motor Speedway

NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts and Truck Series events delayed as heavy showers and thunderstorms dominate the forecast

A sudden downpour over the Charlotte Motor Speedway circuit has forced officials to suspend NASCAR’s weekend schedule, pushing back both the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series events.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race managed to complete 33 of its 200‑lap distance before the rain intensified, leaving Justin Allgaier in the lead as crews race to dry the track.

Originally slated for Friday night, the Truck Series race was first moved to Saturday morning, then again to Saturday night, before the latest delay forced a further postponement as the storm system lingered.

Weather Outlook

The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of rain for the remainder of Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms expected to persist throughout Sunday, where the chance of precipitation sits at 70 percent.

Track officials say they are monitoring conditions closely and will provide updates as soon as the weather permits a safe return to racing.
