A New Era for Hawaii Basketball
After fourteen years in the Big West, the University of Hawaii’s men’s basketball program is stepping into a new chapter. The Rainbow Warriors have officially joined the Mountain West Conference, and the excitement is palpable as the team releases its debut 18‑game schedule.
The slate is designed to test the team early, opening with three road contests against San Jose State, UC Davis and Nevada before the first home test arrives on January 12th when Air Force visits the SimpliFi Arena. Each Mountain West opponent will be faced twice during the regular season, giving the Warriors ample opportunity to fine‑tune their play.
Broadcast partners have secured a local outlet for the games, with KFVE set to carry the action to viewers across the islands. While the schedule is set, officials have warned that television considerations could still prompt adjustments before the season kicks off.
The culmination of the campaign will be the Mountain West Championship, slated for March 10‑13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. All twelve conference members will qualify for the tournament, promising a high‑stakes finale that could define the year for Hawaii’s squad.
