The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will see a dramatic reshuffle at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend, as Rajah Caruth is set to take the wheel of the No. 32 entry that Kyle Busch had been slated to drive. Busch’s death on May 21, after a battle with pneumonia that turned to sepsis, left a void that the series and team owners moved quickly to fill.
A sudden vacancy
Caruth, a 23‑year‑old Georgia native, is no stranger to the Nashville stage. Two years ago he led 61 of 150 laps and captured his second career win at the same track, demonstrating the speed and composure that earned him the opportunity to step in for the late veteran.
The young driver’s schedule adds another layer of intrigue: he is also slated to compete the following day in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Sports Illustrated Resorts 250 at the same venue, turning the weekend into a rare double‑header for the rising star.
The substitution comes after Corey Day attempted to fill Busch’s seat at Charlotte Motor Speedway a week earlier, only to crash out on Lap 47, highlighting the thin margin for error that teams now face when inserting new drivers mid‑season.
Spire Motorsports, the organization that fields the No. 32 truck, confirmed the lineup change, while Jordan Anderson Racing, the program that runs Caruth’s primary effort, emphasized the chance for the young driver to showcase his talent on a larger stage. The move also reflects a broader trend of teams turning to proven, youthful talent when veteran availability is cut short.
