Rattlers Prepare for Crucial Preseason Scrimmage
Florida A&M Rattlers will take the field on Saturday, August 8, for their first preseason scrimmage, a session designed to gauge player physicality and tackle readiness.
Coach Quinn Gray plans to use the workout to begin shaping the team’s two‑deep depth chart, identifying the players who will anchor the upcoming season.
Starting August 5, athletes have been training in full pads, a shift that underscores the program’s emphasis on discipline and contact readiness.
Antonio Camon Jr. said the squad is eager to engage in fast‑paced, intense play, noting that the new playbook demands sharp situational awareness.
The scrimmage will feature full‑contact situations for the first time, allowing coaches to evaluate every position and confirm which players can contribute most effectively in the second week of camp.
With a schedule that includes matchups against Albany State, South Carolina State and other SWAC rivals, the Rattlers aim to build momentum toward a competitive season running from August through November.
