Rattlesnake Warning Prompts Safety Measures at Riviera High Football Game
Earlier this week, the Riviera Independent School District released a notice warning that rattlesnakes have been observed in the area surrounding the football field ahead of the upcoming game.
The contest will feature Riviera Kaufer High School, competing in UIL 2A-Division 2, against Corpus Christi John Paul II, a TAPPS Division III program, marking the first meeting for the former and the second for the latter.
Precautions for Spectators and Families
Spectators were instructed to avoid the long jump area and to remain alert while seated, with staff positioned to monitor any serpentine activity and to intervene if necessary.
Parents were urged to keep a close eye on children, to stay within designated viewing zones, and to report any sightings of snakes to event officials immediately.
Riviera lies approximately 55 miles south of Corpus Christi, placing the event in a region where encounters with rattlesnakes are not uncommon during the late summer months.
