Ray Myers Named Head Coach of Pajaro Valley High School

Veteran coach returns to lead the Grizzlies, with his father joining as offensive coordinator

Ray Myers, a 42‑year‑old former assistant football coach, has been named the new head coach at Pajaro Valley High School. The announcement comes as the school looks to build on a recent surge in wins and participation.

A Family Legacy Returns to the Sideline

Myers brings a rich coaching pedigree, having served as the defensive line coach at Cabrillo College and previously at Soquel and Watsonville high schools. Before that, he played as a fullback and linebacker at Gilroy High and later at Cabrillo, giving him a deep understanding of the game from both sides of the ball.

His father, Ron Myers, a legendary figure who founded the football program at Monte Vista Christian in Watsonville and coached for 47 years, is coming out of retirement to serve as offensive coordinator. Ron’s decades‑long impact on the local football scene adds a unique dimension to the new coaching staff.

Myers replaces Casey Neligh, who was hired as Seaside High’s athletics director after leading the Grizzlies to match their highest win total in program history. The transition marks the end of an era but also the start of a fresh approach under Myers’ leadership.

Beyond strategy, Myers is focused on increasing participation and making the experience fun for student‑athletes. He will also teach physical education at Pajaro Valley High, aiming to foster relationships with his players both on and off the field.

On a personal note, Myers and his wife Jaimy are celebrating the birth of their seven‑month‑old daughter, Charlotte, adding another source of joy as he steps into his new role.
