Razorbacks Close Out a Competitive Season
The University of Arkansas baseball program concluded its 2026 campaign with a 41‑22 overall record, a mark that placed the team 21st in the final USA Today Baseball Coaches Poll. The ranking marks the lowest final coaches poll position for the Razorbacks since the 2016‑17 season, ending a streak that had kept them in the rankings every week since March 2017.
Arkansas faced a gauntlet of elite competition, posting a 2‑1 record against the national champion Oklahoma Sooners and splitting series with other top‑10 programs. The schedule included victories over Texas, Alabama and Mississippi State, while the team also dropped games to Georgia, Florida and Kansas.
The Razorbacks’ 2‑2 postseason run ended with a 13‑10 loss at Kansas on May 31, a game that saw the team fall eight spots from its pre‑tournament ranking of No. 13. Despite the setback, the club finished the year with a 14‑13 record against the ten opponents that ultimately made the final poll.
Conference Dominance and National Context
Ten members of the SEC earned spots in the final poll, underscoring the conference’s depth and its claim to the most represented league. Across the country, other conferences such as the Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Sun Belt, Big West, Big East and OVC also placed teams in the rankings, with Oregon State operating as an independent for the second straight season.
The final coaches poll, which serves as the reference point for WholeHogSports coverage, also saw Arkansas listed 21st by Baseball America and 23rd by D1Baseball, reflecting a consensus that, while modest, still positions the program among the nation’s top 25.
