A dominant start
Arkansas opened its 2026 soccer season in spectacular fashion, routing Little Rock 9-0 on a crisp August evening. The victory marked the program’s largest margin of victory since a 10-0 win over Northwestern State in 2024 and set an early benchmark for the squad.
Senior forward Bella Field was the catalyst, striking twice in the opening 35 minutes. Her first goal came from a curling free-kick that bent around the wall, and a quick deflection off a defender doubled the lead before halftime.
Field’s fireworks
Freshman midfielder Jordan Bryant added a third goal in the 27th minute, while senior midfielder Kennedy Ball and sophomore forward Natalie Wagner struck after the break. The scoring burst featured five first-year players — Jordan Bryant, MacKenzie Gwin, Paige Szymanski, Kayla Morawietz and Aynsley Nuckols — each recording their inaugural collegiate marker.
Playmaking was equally impressive. Aniyah Nurse-Whyte logged an assist on Field’s opening strike, and later set up goals for Ivy Harding and Nuria Craig, giving the Razorbacks three assists in the match. The midfield duo of Bella Field and Kennedy Ball orchestrated the attack, linking 30 shots with eight corner kicks.
First-time fireworks
Defensive stalwarts Vailana Tu’ua and Reese Potts anchored the back line, clearing danger and supporting the midfield’s forward push. The Razorbacks’ depth was evident as eight different players found the net, a rare feat in program history.
Jenkins’ debut and a clean sheet
Between the posts, goalkeeper Emily Jenkins made her Arkansas debut alongside Keegan Smith, combining for a shutout that required zero saves. Their composure under pressure underscored the depth of the roster.
Arkansas now turns its attention to a home clash with Jackson State on September 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and the game will stream live on SECN+, giving fans another chance to witness the team’s early chemistry.
